Security control
Before you enter your gate, a security control of your person and hand luggage takes place.
Every passenger has to remove metal objects before passing through a metal detector frame.
If you are carrying liquids with you, the maximum amount is 100 ml liquid in 1 litre plastic bags, which are to be shown to the security personnel.
If you are travelling to a country that is a party to the Schengen Agreement, you can pass through the central security control points for gates C31, C71 - 75, B22 - 42, D31 - 37 and D61 - 70.
Please note the permissible maximum size of hand luggage.
There are no international standards for hand luggage.
The weight and size vary depending on the airline, class and route.
For Austrian Airlines the maximum size is 55cm x 40cm x 23cm.
Check in good time what you can take on board with you.
You should also note the security regulations for hand luggage and the list of prohibited items.
Passport control
If you are travelling to a country that is not a party to the Schengen Agreement, you must go through passport control for gates D21 - 70 and transfer gates C35 - 41, where you are required to show your passport and boarding pass.
Passport and ID card
Passengers must carry a passport or ID card with them at all times, regardless of whether the country they are in is a party to the Schengen Agreement or not.
A driving licence is not valid as a travel document.
If you have lost your passport, you can apply for the issuance of an emergency passport at the Document Centre at Vienna Airport.
You will require a passport photo, €75.90 and proof of identity (e.g. driving licence).
The Document Centre is on the right next to the priority terminal.
It is accessible from the arrivals level.
Please note that it takes some time for an emergency passport to be issued, so you should allow for this as well.
